Hurricane Jeanne September 2004

After Meandering around, 400 miles NE of us, Jeanne approaches the NW Bahamas 4.30pm 24 September, with sustained winds of 105mph, a cattegory 2 hurricane.
-
The first signs were the very high Atlantic swell, and then frequent heavy rain squalls.
-
Shutters started going up in Governor's Harbour.
-
Time to close the shutters at Skipper's Cottage. The cockpit is still sealed from hurricane Frances.
-
Another night closed in, listening to the wind and rain, but it was not as bad as Frances. Next morning a now familiar scene in Harbour
-
A fresh covering of seaweed, but no further damage on the road. Waves are still crashing in on the Caribbean side.
For us at Governor's Harbour, Jeanne was not as bad as Frances, but bad enough. I have no news of further north, but suspect the damage could be worse as the eye passed about 60 miles N of Harbour island.
